Pre-Season Ramble: Heroes Season 4

“Greater Evil? Greater good?”

Is that the best they could come up with? To say that Heroes has had a sketchy past story-wise is an understatement at best. I’m one of those geeks who will continue to watch genre shows from the beginning to the end even if the quality is kind of questionable (Example: Birds of Prey). While people thought Season 2 of Heroes was lackluster, I actually enjoyed it. Although the whole virus thing kinda mirrored X-Men, it was still good but because of the writer’s strike, they stunted the arc and wrapped it up in a tiny bow. As a result, character’s that we spent half a season learning to care about like Maya, Monica and Caitlin suddenly got written out with little to no explanation in Season 3.

Apparently Season 4 starts off as our Heroes try to be normal people again…seriously? They’ve done this before: Peter being a benevolent careworker/paramedic, Claire just trying to fit in (this time in College).

I’ll admit the only thread I’m really interested in is Hiro, who when we last saw them was bleeding from all kinds of orifices when he used his powers. Apparently he has a terminal disease…should be interesting.

I’m gonna be sticking around the whole season and doing ‘lil blurbs about this…let’s hope the season redeems itself…

Smallville, on the other hand, looks like it’s picking up on the pace of the Superman mythology. I’m psyched for that. Let’s hope the potential lasts longer than the 1 minute Clark versus Doomsday fight scene in last seasons final fight scene.
