Heroes: Chapter Two - Ink

Alright, so this is a tad late but take it as a little appetizer to tomorrow’ s new episode of Heroes.
So Mohinder is still M.I.A and I’m a happy camper because of that. I don’t know about you guys but I’m happy there hasn’t been any lame-o monologues about life and the meaning of it.
Here’s the gist of what happened last week:
-Claire’s weirdo friend, who found out Claire had regenerative powers, is back and Claire tries to avoid her only to have her come to a lunch date with HRG. They end up bonding at the end as the weirdo girl cuts open Claire’s hand in a pseudo-lesbian flavoured scene.
-Sylar continues to haunt Matt Parkman by using Matt’s powers against him during an investigation. Don’t want to spoil it but it’s definitely a prime example of good character-driven writing. Sylar actually redeems himself as a bad guy…no daddy issues so far. One random gripe…Matt Parkman, why did you put your sunglasses on when you busted into that criminals house only to take them off……seems….odd.
-Peter gets served legal papers. Turns out it’s Samuel, the creepy carney. Samuel milks some empathy from Peter by talking feelings…I kind of don’t reemember. I just phased out.
-We get to know more about the new Hero, Emma, who is deaf but turns out she can see the colour of sound. Pretty useless power if you ask me but it’s a beautifully written arc. The slow pace they’re taking with Emma is an example of what could have been done with Daphne, The Speedster from last season. If you don’t remember, she had super speed but before she actually had cerebral palsy.
Anyways, Peter is the only hero that’s dealing with Emma this moment and he’s there for a prolific moment at episode’s end when Emma plays a cello and is consumed by an ambient stream of lights. Beautiful. So beautiful considering you see how much joy she gets from seeing what she cannot hear. Sucky power but beautiful story.
By the way is anybody else a fan of Silent Hill? Well, Emma’s theme song is a very similar ambient tune with an echoing and eerie piano melody.
The episode is uber slow but so was Season 1 and people loved it.
The episode ended with Peter having a weird compass imprinted on his skin. Let’s see where this goes….
Tomorrow’s episode: Nathan/Sylar start remembering things…sounds like a potential dud episode.
